KUBE architecture recently assisted with the realization of the Tiny Empire Co-Working Experience in the trendy East City precinct of Cape Town. Located at street level in Wolroy House, a Cape Victorian style building, the space will be co-inhabited by Tiny Empire, Mother City Hardware and Deluxe Coffee Works adding to the precinct’s reputation as the Cape Town Coffee hub.

Winners of the 2013 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards have been announced. Totally independent, the UK and International Restaurant & Bar Design Awards receives entries from the UK and world's top architects, designers and hospitality operators. The award is now in its fifth cycle and has built a reputation for being one of the most prestigious in hospitality.

An LED powered lamp poster by Jean-Sébastien Lagrange

We just had to share this cross between a poster and a lamp created by French designer Jean-Sébastien Lagrange. The energy friendly LEDs illuminate when a magnet at the bottom right corner is folded up to another, connecting the start and end of a conductive ink trail to complete the circuit.

New Kartell Flagship Store in Cape Town

What would a World Design Capital be without its own mono-branded Kartell store?

Kartell, Italian furniture manufacturer, famous for their unique plastic creations opened their first mono-branded store in Cape Town this week. The store which covers 146m2 spread over two levels on the corner of Hudson and Strand streets in the De Waterkant area will showcase designs by Ron Arad, Philippe Starck, Patrick Jouin and other famous designers.
